I am a physiotherapist based in Tokai in the Southern Suburbs, Cape Town. I apply a holistic approach to treating patients by providing a thorough assessment and treatment in a relaxed and comfortable environment. In addition to treating your current symptoms I also spend time analysing the underlying muscle imbalances and biomechanical issues that may be the root cause. I provide a tailored rehab programme to each individual aiming to prevent recurrence of their problem.

About Us

Qualifications:
  • BSc (Phys) Degree at University of Cape Town (2000)
Professional Memberships:
  • Health Professions Council of South Africa
  • Health Professions Council of United Kingdom
  • South African Society of Physiotherapy

I was born and grew up in Cape Town where I worked for 6 months before moving to the UK for 10 years. I initially worked as a locum in different NHS hospitals for 2 years where I was very fortunate to have learnt from some excellent clinicians.

I then moved to the Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital in 2003 and worked there until I moved back to South Africa in September 2011. I developed my skills in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic specialities in close conjunction with local consultants and was appointed Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in 2009. I am an APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) trained pilates instructor.

Since moving back to Cape Town I have continued to gain experience in the musculoskeletal field. I have enjoyed my time being based in Westlake since 2015 but am equally excited to be moving my practice just around the corner to Tokai in the beautiful Southern suburbs of Cape Town. Pilates classes are held at different venues in the Southern Suburbs.

Available Treatments

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy

The aims of manual therapy are to increase joint range of movement and soft tissue flexibility. It incorporates specific hands-on techniques including massage, joint mobilisations and manipulations.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

In addition to using modern acupuncture to reduce pain and muscle spasm via stimulating nerve endings , I am also qualified in the more holistic traditional Chinese approach. This form of acupuncture also takes into consideration your general well-being and restores normal balance to your body's energy.

Pilates

Pilates

I am APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) trained. My approach consists of a progressive repertoire of mat based exercises which target the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve core stability and posture. Pilates suits all ages and fitness levels and can be particularly beneficial to people with back pain, poor posture and after pregnancy.

We do both individual and class pilates sessions. Classes are currently run on Monday 8.30am and 6pm, Wednesday 4.45pm and Thursday 9am.
